MARTIN AND TRISH

Martin Kranitz and Patricia (Trish) Miller are nationally recognized experts in Alternative Dispute Resolution and the principals of the National Institute for Conflict Resolution. Together, they have shown countless businesses and organizations how to resolve disputes quickly and economically without the publicity and adversarial confrontations that go with litigation.

Martin has been a mediation trainer for almost 20 years, writes a regular column for Mediation Monthly, and has appeared on CNN and numerous talk shows. He also holds the rare distinction of being a non-attorney graduate of Harvard Law School's Mediation Program. He has mediated over 1,500 disputes and court-referred custody cases. Martin has been in the vanguard of promoting court ordered mediation and was recently appointed to the Maryland Commission on Dispute Resolution. The author of Getting Apart Together, a guide to fair divorce or separation, and the co-author of Starting Your Own Mediation Practice: A Workbook, Martin will have his third book published in the spring of 2000. He has provided ADR training to a number of corporations and government agencies, including the IRS, U.S. Customs Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF),and provides direct service to the Department of Justice.

Trish is an attorney and dispute resolution professional who received her training as a mediator at Harvard Law School. She has over 20 years experience as a financial, marketing and management systems consultant in the real estate, construction and mortgage banking industries. Trish has extensive experience in complex business and contractual dispute resolution in these arenas and in health- care disputes. She has substantial experience in family mediation and has handled hundreds of domestic disputes. As either a trainer or a direct service provider, Trish's clients include corporations, government agencies such as the U.S. Customs Service, U.S. Secret Service, ATF, the MD. Assoc. of Realtors, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance, Heery International, and the Philadelphia Housing Authority.

An expert on court mediation/ facilitation, Trish appears as a frequent guest on talk shows, and has authored a number of articles on ethics in mediation. Trish teaches ADR at several institutions of higher learning and serves on a variety of mediation panels and commissions at the national and state levels. She has her own radio show, "Working It Out", which is directed toward conflict resolution in the workplace.
